Claremont HS junior varsity cross country teams ran very well at the Billy York Invite Saturday, September 23 in Riverside. While the varsity team was competing out of town in Idaho, the rest of the team came away with impressive local performances.

In the Varsity A Girls race, Claremont won with 64 points, ahead of 13 other teams. Lauryn Noeth took 8th place in 18:58 to pace the Wolfpack, followed by Sarah Ayala (13th, 19:14), Annette Hermelin (14th, 19:17), Julie Marriott (16th, 19:29) and Emma Carter (17th, 19:39).

In the Junior Varsity Girls race, CHS scored a perfect 15 points for the win, ahead of 8 other teams. Kaitlyn Heckers won the race with a time of 20:00, and the CHS top five also included Grace Dorantes (2nd, 20:13), Monica Fonseca (20:38), Alyssa Aguilar (20:44), and Samantha Palafox (21:25).

In the Girls Frosh/Soph race, Claremont won with 18 points to top 14 teams. Sophomore Mae Key Ketter won the 3-mile race in 20:01.5, just ahead of teammate Isatu N’Diaye, who took 2nd in 20:01.8. Ashlyn Heckers took 3rd (20:05) and Camila Moreno was 4th (20:25).
