Claremont High’s girls’ cross country team won the 5k Elite Girls team title at the prestigious Bob Firman Invite on September 23 in Boise, Idaho. The Wolfpack scored 137 points to narrowly edge Bozeman (MT), which tallied 140. The meet drew numerous strong teams from multiple west coast states, and Claremont’s team victory solidifies its strong 2017 reputation as a team to watch.

Junior Sydney Hwang led CHS with her 10th place finish in 18:10 over the 5000 meter (3.1 mile) course. Behind Hwang for CHS were Azalea Segura Mora (15th, 18:16), Tess Rounds (36th, 18:59), Alyssa Cantrell (45th, 19:04), and Angie Gushue (50th, 19:13).
